Diablo Ranch Wedding

Diablo Ranch | Walnut Creek | Wedding | Katie + Eric

Katie and Eric had their wedding at golden and rustic Diablo Ranch in Walnut Creek.  They found some vintage decor to add to the ranch to add a touch of rustic elegance.  Mt. Diablo is also a special place for Katie and Eric, where they love to ride up the mountains on their road bikes and run and hike around the bucolic hills.

Some words from Katie and Eric:

We were set up by a friend of Katie's mom, who happens to be Eric's parent's neighbor. We are both runners and she saw him running one day and thought we'd be perfect for each other. Our first date was a run around Lafayette Reservoir and that is where we got engaged (on the Rim Trail, above the paved reservoir path).
The dancing, the food, the overall look of our wedding - everything came together with our rustic vision and then how that vision translated into the actual set up. It was beyond our dreams, how everything came together exactly how we wanted it. And the party was amazing! We danced for 3 straight hours and if the dj didn't have to leave at midnight, we would have kept going. Eric and I were in the last car to leave that night. It was amazing and fun and just the best day!

Diablo Ranch Wedding | Walnut Creek | Becky + Will

There are so many reasons why we love Becky and Will.  They are fun, laid-back, artsy, and so incredibly kind.  Becky made her own floral arrangements out of succulents she grew herself. When she learned that I collect succulents too, she gave me a bunch of her precious cuttings just months before her wedding. So much of this wedding was home-spun and filled with the love of their friends and family.

Diablo Ranch in Walnut Creek is also one of our favorite places to shoot because it has so many things guests can do and discover.  There are horses, a gnarly emu that reminds me of a dinosaur, wild turkeys, a little treehouse for the little ones, and a pool table for the grown-ups. Diablo Ranch is so perfectly Bay Area California with the golden hills, rolling fog, giant oak trees and ranch barn-yard vibe.

Some words from Becky and Will...

"Will's favorite part of our wedding day was the late-night dancing because the stress was finally over and we could finally enjoy the moment. My favorite part of the day was the dreaminess of overlooking Mt. Diablo, listening to Will's vows, and absorbing the beautiful fact that we were getting married.

We wanted an effortless, whimsical, fun, and pretty wedding. Little did we know how much work it required! Will just tried to survive the process, and he did his best to support my crazy DIY projects (Pinterest = magical/evil). We were inspired by things that were personal to us, from the hand-stitched ring pillow of our cat and the miniature scenes constructed in terrariums to the playlist of Will's favorite songs he spent 60+ hours compiling.

Jerry warned us not to coordinate the wedding ourselves, and we made the mistake of not following such golden advice. The ranch hands forgot important details, and we found ourselves worrying about what else they missed when we should have enjoyed ourselves. Thankfully, the positive memories outshine the negative ones."
