FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT'S YOUR STYLE?

We love photographing your day as it naturally unfolds without too much interference from us.  We focus on the real moments and real personalities of your friends and family, not some fairytale wedding day.   But we're not just watching things that happen, we're watching everyone around you to capture them in a way that will make you remember who they were many years from now. We try to draw out the quirks and things that make your relationship special, especially during portrait time. We also love the abstract, surreal and geometric, and we try to compose things that artfully express you.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE TYPES OF WEDDINGS?

Our favorite venues and portrait locations have interesting lighting and nook and crannies when we can get creative by shaping the light.  But most of all, we love a genuine and enthusiastic wedding celebration, with guests who are there to love you, celebrate and support you.

DO YOU TRAVEL FOR WEDDINGS, ENGAGEMENT AND PORTRAITS?

We love traveling to new and familiar places.  In the past few years, we've gone all over California, Seattle, Miami, Arizona, New York, Philly, Boston, Puerto Vallarta, Cancun, Bali, Barbados, and Aruba.  When we go abroad, we try to capture the essence of the locale, not just the wedding day, and often we do fun shoots before or after the wedding day.  We charge a travel fee that covers airfare, lodging and local travel. We always look for the least expensive option that is convenient for both you and us. Our families live in SoCal so often we don't charge lodging for those locations.  Inquire for a specific quote for your destination

WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR FOR ENGAGEMENT OR PORTRAIT SESSIONS?

You'll look your best if you are wear something that makes you feel beautiful and comfortable.  Bright colors, muted tones, or patterns all work fine as long as what the two of you are wearing doesn't clash.  Portrait sessions can be a fun way to express your personality with your wardrobe, so don't be afraid to get creative and fun.

WE ARE UNCOMFORTABLE IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA. HELP US!

It's important to us that we get to know you and everyone around you.  When everyone is getting ready, we are not only taking pictures, we are getting everyone used to being in front of the camera and getting to know them better.  Often our couples will tell us that they barely noticed us during the ceremony and reception, then they are surprised to discover that we were shooting at their side the whole time.  During creative portraits, we try to make your interactions with each other natural by taking pictures while having a conversation with you.  If we want you to do something in particular, we will be specific.

DO YOU TAKE PICTURE OF DETAILS AND FORMAL FAMILY PORTRAITS?

Of course, it's very important that we capture to vibe of the wedding, in addition to all the things that are happening around you.  We love seeing the hard work you've put into making the wedding an expression of you.  We often submit to magazines/blogs so you can expect that we will capture your details in an editorial fashion.  If you'd like use to shoot your invitations, make sure to give them to us at the beginning of the day so we have good light to shoot with.  Or better yet, you can mail a copy right to us!

We make formal family portraits a priority to do well.  We know how important formal family portraits are because guests often come from all over.  The moment that everyone is standing together is rare and special and it is often the picture people love looking back on.

SHOULD WE PROVIDE A SHOT LIST?

We'd love a list of family/friends you'd like us to photograph during the formal portraits.  We also appreciate knowing special stories about your loved ones if they might do something special, or if a particular detail is special to you.  But you'll see that we capture the wedding day very thoroughly and we'll make sure to get shots of your dress, shoes, flowers and decor.

What are your rates?

We have four photography teams that are various commission rates. Feel free to contact us for more information about our teams, by clicking on the Contact button above.

HOW DO I GO ABOUT COMMISSIONING YOU FOR MY DATE?

First we'd love to chat and get to know each other better.  Then, we'll send you an online proposal and contract to sign.  The retainer is 50% of the commission fee.  The remaining balance is due 30 days prior to the wedding.

AFTER THE WEDDING HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO RECEIVE OUR PHOTOS?

You can expect your photos about 12 weeks from your wedding date.  We take a lot of time in the post production process because we believe that it is truly a large part of our artistry.  We color correct, crop and artfully color each image we send to you.  When your photos are ready, you can expect to see an online gallery of all your photos, a Highlights slideshow set to music, a link to download all your proofs, and if you'd like, a custom album design.

HOW MANY IMAGES WILL YOU DELIVER?

We average about 100 photos per hour that you have us commissioned for.  So an 8 hour wedding will produce 800+ photos.  These are the best photos of the day with no fluff added.

WILL WE GET DIGITAL FILES?

You can purchase your digital files or any other products after you view all your photos.  We want to give our clients the most flexibility in regards to products, so you can choose to get your high-res files or albums years down the line if you decide then.
